Scholarship Program

The Lawson School of Music recognizes the importance of offering scholarship opportunities to current and potential students in our community. Students who are awarded a scholarship will receive free private lessons for the Academic Year (Fall-Spring). In the 2024-2025 Academic Year, we were able to award three students. Applications for 2025-2026 will open Summer 2025


Ideal Candidates:

  1. Age 6-18
  2. Passion and dedication to music and learning.
  3. Leadership skills among peers.
  4. Will practice and study outside of lesson time.

Meet the 2024-2025 Scholarship Recipients

Jonni Shandor, age 13, is an 8th-grade homeschool student with over two years of study in voice, piano, and musical theater at The Lawson School of Music. She is a dedicated and versatile performer, taking classes in musical theater, piano, vocals, songwriting, and more. Jonn is also an experienced film and commercial actress.


Outside of her studies at The Lawson School of Music, Jonni enjoys a wide range of creative hobbies, including crochet, baking, cooking, roller skating, nail design, and makeup artistry. Her passion for the arts, critical-thinking skills, and ability to balance such diverse interests make her a truly unique and talented individual.


River Taylor, 13, is in the 7th grade at Bluegrass Middle School. This is her third year of piano and her first year of voice at the Lawson School of Music! She is also in this spring's Musical Theatre production of 'Alice in Wonderland, Jr.'. River has studied dance at the Dance Centre of Elizabethtown for 9 years. She is also a member of Youth Theatre of Hardin County and of the Bluegrass Middle School Academic Team.

Reese Thompson is an 18 year old Senior at North Hardin High School in Elizabethtown, KY. She has been studying voice at The Lawson School of music one year. She is an active member of the NHHS Choir, Youth Theatre of Hardin County, Beta Club, and the NHHS Varsity Volleyball Team.  You may have seen Reese on stage as Ado Annie in The Youth Theatre of Hardin County's production of 'Oklahoma' or in NHHS' production of 'The Little Mermaid' as Ursula. This summer, Reese had the opportunity to spend the summer at The Governor's Scholars Program. Reese will be auditioning this Spring in hopes to major in Vocal Performance at Western Kentucky University in the Fall of 2025.
